How this site works
The Videos:
People put videos on the internet for others to see. So in effect, they “put themselves out there”. I take shameless advantage of this fact. The good news is, my intentions are noble. I want people to be better, I want them to strive for perfection, I want magic as a whole to be brought to a higher level. More importantly than all of this though, is the fact that I want people to have honest critiques on their performances, rather than saying “good job” to their face then laughing behind their back. Truth is the greatest teacher.
Submitting a Video:
I find videos by searching YouTube and other video sites for key words, searching magic forums for performances submitted, and user submitted videos. You can submit a video for me to rate by emailing the link to fixmytricks@gmail.com.
Criteria for choosing the Videos:
Generally the criteria by which I choose the videos includes: The video should be a performance, either for actual people, or a video performance of an effect. If there are words necessary to the performance, they must be spoken, not edited into the video. I won’t rigidly adhere to these standards, though. If I see something I want to post, I’ll just do it.
My Rating System:
My rating system really is arbitrary, as it states underneath the ratings. I speak my mind in the actual review and for this kind of site (for every kind of site, really) simpler is better. I’m not going to have some complicated system that takes me an hour to figure out if I’ve got an honest rating, after I just took the time to write my review. Light bulbs are good, milks are bad. That’s about as far as I’m going with the thing.
Why Milks and Light Bulbs?
Anyone who remembers Andy (This is my forum to talk shit about magic and magicians. If you aren’t into magic, you probably won’t like it. If you are into magic, you probably won’t like it either.) will remember a passionate post about how ridiculous the “Milk in Light Bulb” magic trick is that sells for $150.00. Ridiculous because it simply doesn’t make sense. But I digress…That’s where my rating “system” comes from.
